Description The report contains the results based on three selected tables of tabula tion plan of the NSS 50th Round (July,1993 - June,1994) on employment and nemployment (fifth quinquennial survey) generated separately for the 18 cities with a population of one million and above in 1991 and for the three size classes of the other towns. It compares key results relating to employment and unemployment with the results based on the la st quinquennial survey carried out during the 43rd Round (July,1987 - June,1988).

Description The National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in its 50th round (July1993 - June1994) devoted to the fifth quinquennial survey on employment - unemployment, has collected data on the activity profile of children of age 5-14 years with the objective to make available useful information relating to child labour and its causes. Information was collected on school attendance, partici pation in household chores and work related activities. This report dwells on children’s participation in conomic activities vis-a-vis their school attendance.

Description The National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in its 50th round (July1993 - June1994) devoted to the fifth quinquennial survey on employment - unemployment, has collected data on participation of persons in household work and other specified activities which resulted economic benefits to their households for preparing an estimate of persons engaged in suchactivities at all-India and state level. However, this report deals with only women’s participation very small proportion of total population.

Description The National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in its 50th round (July1993 - June1994) devoted to the fifth quinquennial survey on employment - unemployment, has collected information, for the first time, on certain selected characteristics of the unemployed such as duration or the spell of unemployment, type of work sought, sector of activity in which work was sought, nature of last employment if the person had ever worked and the reason for leaving last employment, etc., in addition to the regular item coverage. Results obtained from this enquiry are presented in this report.

The present report is based on data collected in that round.This report attempts comparative analysis of ‘Labour Force Participation’ (persons) of different social groups by education level, age group, etc. at All India and State/U.T. levels.

Description he fifth quinquennial survey on consumer expenditure, employment & unemployment was conducted during the 50th round (July1993-June1994) of NSS. The present report is based on data collected in that round. The previous four quinquennial surveys were conducted during the 27th (October 1972 - September 1973), the 32nd (July 1977 - June 1978), the 38th (January- December 1983) and the 43rd (July 1987 - June 1988) rounds. The concepts used for this survey nalysis of levels of monthly per capita expenditure, land cultivation, etc., of the households and of ‘Labour Force Participation’ of persons belonging to various religious groups at all India level and fo r the major states. Seven religious groups have been considered for the study viz., the Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and the Parsis.
