Definition

Medical Expenditure: The expenses incurred during the stay in the hospital or the total expenditure born by the individual. Items of expenditure included in other expenses are : * purchase of medicines, bandages, plaster, oxygen, blood etc. from outside the hospital * diagnostic tests and therapies done from outside the hospital * consultation fees paid to medical personnel outside the hospital * charges for ambulance when not provided by the hospital It may be noted that the following was not included in this item : (a) transport charges in connection with treatment (b) cost of food for the patient (c)purchase of medical appliances of durable nature for the patient
