Definition

Amount paid : The total amount payable to the hospital for items mentioned in the previous definition, for the period of stay in the hospital, provided the whole period falls within the reference period. It will not include the expenses for the treatment in the hospital for the period that is not within the reference period. It may be noted that the advance payment on account of bed charges, tests & therapies, medicines etc., which are not performed or not consumed till the date of survey are excluded from this item. Only that part of the advance payment is taken into account which relates only to the medical services already provided. Correspondingly, all charges for the medical services already received but not paid were taken into account while making entry against this item. Any tips paid to the employees of the hospital was excluded from this item.
