Primary Health Centre: Primary health centre (PHC) is the first contact point between a village community and the medical officer. It has a medical officer and other para-medical staff. It is run by the Government and usually has in-patient and out-patient facilities. A PHC has jurisdiction over 6 sub-centres and serves about 30,000 people in the plains and 20,000 in hilly/ tribal areas.
