Interviewer instructions

The information about the types of latrine used by the household will be collected and recorded in codes.
If the household does not have any latrine facility, i.e. its members use open area as latrine, code 1 will be recorded. Mostly, in small towns and in some areas of big towns and cities one comes across latrines which are serviced by scavengers of the municipality, municipal corporation etc. for households having latrine facility of this type, code 2 chambers will be considered as a septic tank latrine and code 3 will be recorded if the household has a lateine of that type. If the household has flush system lateine i. e. latrine connedted to undeerground sewerage system, code 4 will be recorded. If the household has a latrine of any other type, code 9 will be recorded.
