Interviewer instructions
Whether or not the household belongs to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes or Other Backward Classes will be indicated against this item in terms of the specified codes which are: Scheduled Tribes - 1, Scheduled Castes - 2, Other Backward Classes - 3, others - 9, NR - X Those who do not come under any one of the first three social groups will be assigned code 9, meant to cover all other categories. In case different members belong to different social groups, the group to which the head of the household belongs will be considered as the 'social group' of the household.
