The index is compiled and released monthly by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) with a time lag of approximately 28 days from the reference month.\nThe new IIP series with base year 2022-23 reflects changes in the industrial structure of the economy, incorporates an updated item basket and weighting structure, and adopts improved estimation procedures. The revised series uses Producer Price Indices (PPI), wherever applicable, for converting value-based production data into volume measures to better capture changes in real industrial output.\n\nSCOPE\nAs per the International Recommendations for the Index of Industrial Production (IRIIP) 2010 of the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), IIP is to be compiled for activities in ISIC Rev. 4 Sections B, C, D and E, i.e. (i) Mining and quarrying, (ii) Manufacturing, (iii) Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air-conditioning supply and (iv) Water supply, Sewerage, Waste management and Remediation activities.
